Description
The Church of Santa Maria della Porta stands up against the wall of the castle of Todiano near the gate (porta, from which it takes its name) and connected to Palazzo Battaglia.
It was used as an oratory for the Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament, whose incomes also included the Monte Frumentario (grain broker.) It was joined to the Lateran Chapter, to which it owed an annual rent. Built in the 16th century, it has a single door and a vaulted structure and ornate altar.
Inside there is a wooden altar and a praying Madonna and Child from the 16th century, influenced by Abruzzese artists.
